P7s Leaver’s Assembly

We really enjoyed P7s assembly this morning.  Some of our favourite bits were:-

–  Sarah – It was really good and made some people cry.  We wish them lots of luck in High School.

–  Rishi – My favourite part was when Mrs McLaren pretended to have all the money.

–  Ava & Hannah M – We really liked when they were pretending to be the teachers.

–  Isla –  I really enjoyed every bit.

– Gregor & Sarah – I liked the photos from when they were babies.

–  Brodie – I think it was the best assembly ever.

–  Abby – I liked the part where they were saying about Mark talking about animals and about the ‘shuffling boys’ getting their legs chopped off.

–  Morgan – I really like it when Jack stuffed his face with the tunnocks tea cake.

We all loved seeing and hearing about their time at Chryston Primary and we look forward to seeing them again and hearing about their adventures at High School.

GOOD LUCK!

Chryston’s Got Talent

This week we enjoyed watching the semi-finals of Chryston’s Got Talent.

Some people in our class auditioned but didn’t get through unfortunately.

Some others were lucky enough to make it through to the semi finals.

We all found it very difficult to vote for our top 3.  One act from our class has made it through to the finals on Wednesday.

We wish them lots of luck and we are looking forward to seeing all the different acts in the final on Wednesday.

We also can’t wait to find out about the wildcard entry!

Our Creative Eels

Today we decided to be creative and make our own paper plate eels.

First, we had to cut the rim off the edge of the paper plate and then make it into a ‘s’ shape.

image

Then, we made a head shape and a tongue.

Then we coloured it and you will see they are swimming happily in the sea.

While P4s and P5s were at the Primary Games today P5 came to join us in our class.

This afternoon the whole class went out to enjoy the sunshine and play rounders together.  We split into equal teams and took turns to hit the ball and run round to earn points.  The score was 26 to the mostly girls team and 25 to the mostly boys team.  Unfortunately, we lost the ball and had to cut the game short very slightly.  Luckily it was nearly the end of the game.

We had great fun and enjoyed the sunshine.  We hope we can do it again and we hope the Primary games was fun too.

The eels have arrived!

image

Today, we made history… We are the first class in Scotland to have eels in our classroom.  After break 2 ladies came into our classroom to bring the eels that are going to live in the tank.  The ladies talked to us and told us many different facts about the eels like what they look like, their life cycle, when they come, where they come from, where and how they travel, what they eat and how big they are.

image

Then, the lady used a net to scoop the eels out of the bucket and into the tank.  It took quite a long time because there were 50 of them and they are so small, wriggly, slimy and fast.

image

The lady told us that the type of eel they are is called and elver.  This is the 4th stage of their life cycle before they turn into yellow eels.  They are about 6/7cm long and about 2 years old.

image

The lady told us that when we feed them we have to only give them a very small pinch of food.  We have to feed them once in the morning and once at the end of the day.  At then end of each day we have to clear out a cup of water and replace it with a cup from the river water. WE MUST NOT USE TAP WATER EVER!

image

When all the eels were in the tank, each group had a chance to come and have a closer look.

image

We would like to invite the other classes to come to see them and we will arrange times for classes to do this.

image

We are looking forward to looking after the eels and releasing them at the end of the term.

Outdoor Stalls

image

This morning before lunchtime we had a chance to visit the outdoor learning stalls.

image

There was basketball, beat the goalie, face painting, guess the birthday, bake sale, guess the sweeties in the jar, victorian toys, photo booth and arts and crafts

image

We thought the bake sale was amazing and we really enjoyed all the cakes.

image

We really enjoyed the different stalls and it was good that the weather was so nice that we could get outside again.

Gardening

image

This morning we went out in to the garden to help with some gardening jobs!

image

Mrs Mcloone and Mrs Ross were there to help us so that we knew what to do.

image

We had to collect the plant pots from the hill and lay them in a line, put more compost in the potato bags, tidy the weeds beside the school wall, pull the bulbs out from the plant pots ready to be re-planted and separate the old leaves from the soil so that we could re-use the soil for the bulbs.

image

We had great fun doing these jobs and wished we could stay to do more.

image

BUT we did have to tidy up a lot of mess on the playground.

The Mystery Tank …. Revealed!!!!

Next week Mrs Allan has told us that there will be eels coming into our classroom to live in the tank that was delivered last Friday.

The eels will be coming on Monday or Tuesday and we are very interested to see what they are like.

We can’t wait to find out lots of facts about the eels.  We have lots of questions that we would like to find out the answers to.

Look out for some pictures next week when they arrive.

Today we wrote a recount about ‘The day the tank arrived.’  It was a very exciting day but we are more looking forward to the day the eels arrive.
