We are such an active class and we really are doing some fabulous things in PE. Check out the photos!
Golden Time – Smoothies
The children decided they wanted a healthy eating activity for golden time. They loved choosing the fruits, yogurt and fruit juice for their individual smoothie.
Later they had a go and tasting each other’s and the apricot smoothie came out favourite!!
Next week another 6 children will get the opportunity to make their own smoothie.
Symmetry
In class this week we started to look at symmetry.
On Friday we had to think of things we had in the class that we could use to show patterns with one or more lines of symmetry.
We used the chalk board, whiteboard and smartboard to draw some symmetrical pictures. We also found a variety of other materials that we used to make up pictures, shapes and 3D models.
We had great fun!!
Physical Activities – Skipping and Elastic Ropes
Over the past few weeks we have been learning new skills in P.E. This has involved us using skipping ropes and elastic ropes. Skipping may look easy, but take it from us, it is really much harder than it looks. However we didn’t give up easily. We persevered and just kept trying until we got better and better and better. Mrs Mutch said that skipping and elastic ropes were a blast from the past!!
Information Handling
Who said maths was boring?!! In our pictures below you can see the children in P3/4 using a variety of materials/media to consolidate all that they have been learning about in maths. Their focus this month has been Information Handling.
Venn Diagram
The children were having fun learning all about Venn diagrams in a fun and interactive way. A large Venn diagram was made using skipping ropes and the children placed themselves in the correct area of the Venn diagram.
This activity was fun!! The children had to drag the shape into the correct area on the Venn diagram. They loved using ICT to learn all about Venn diagrams.
Scottish Food Tasting Day
A great day was had by all at our Scottish food tasting afternoon. The children bravely tried a number of foods that did not really appeal to them and were surprised at how good they tasted, or in some cases, how not so good they tasted!!
The joint favourite foods were tablet, no surprises there and oat cakes with cheese – this did surprise me! The least favourite food was sweet porridge. So throw out the sugar folks your kids prefer their porridge salty!!
