Our Birdhouse Challenge

We have been very busy bees in Primary 3. We got an exciting letter from Percy the Pigeon; he was looking for a new home. We all wrote letters back to Percy with ideas for a new home for him.

Then last week Mrs Woodward gave us a challenge. She asked us to find a home for the birdhouse in the school garden. We investigated and explored the garden and came up with 3 suggestions. We then wrote another letter to Mrs Woodward with our suggestions. Today we received a reply from Mrs Woodward and she thought our second suggestion, which was at the top of the stairs in the infant’s playground, was the best.

We asked Mr Mason, the janitor, to help us and we took the birdhouse outside and placed it in its new home.

We are going to put bird seed in the birdhouse for all the local birds and Percy. –Violet

We have learned how to explore the playground and find the bets place for the birdhouse. The top of the stairs is good because no children can get near the birdhouse. –Jenna

We put the birdhouse beside the mud so Percy can eat worms. –Paul

We learned what birds like and what they dodn’t like. They don’t like cats and they like being near worms. –Hannah

We learned how to write a letter. –Calum S

You need to put a letter on an envelope. –Katelyn

You need to write who the letter is for and their address on the envelope. –Aaraa and Elliot

You need to put a stamp on the envelope.- Abigail

You need to write your address at the top right hand corner of your letter. –Harris

The postman or postwoman will deliver your letter. –Christe

Have a look at the birdhouse in its new home. Please respect the birdhouse and the birds that visit it.
