Corpus Christi Primary School and Nursery Class is situated in the close knit village community of Calderbank near Airdrie. Corpus Christi is a denominational primary school with a non-denominational nursery. During session 2019-2020 the roll was 115 with an additional 20/20 children in the nursery class. The staffing for this session was six class teachers, one 0.6fte PEF teacher, one Principal Teacher and one Head Teacher. The nursery class had a staffing complement of one Nursery Teacher, one full time Early Learning Practitioner and two job sharing Early Learning Practitioners. There were changes to the leadership and management of Corpus Christi Primary and Nursery during session 2019-2020 with the appointment of a new Head Teacher in September 2019.
Corpus Christi Primary and Nursery is within the St Andrew’s High cluster and has continued to develop effective partnership working and curricular links with all schools within the cluster, particularly in literacy and numeracy. We maintain regular transition opportunities for our Primary 7 pupils and work in partnership to build upon our strong cluster community.
The active Parent Council has been very supportive of our school community. We have continued to build upon very good links with community groups/businesses such as the local Bowling Club, Tesco at Airdrie and Coatbridge, the local village shops and our local parish of Corpus Christi.
Corpus Christi Parish has been supportive in upholding the school’s Catholic ethos and in providing spiritual guidance and support to staff, pupils and families.
We have developed numerous fruitful partnerships within our local community for the benefit of our learners and their families, which includes support from our Active Schools Coordinator, NL Leisure and support from parents within our community to share skills, in particular with the introduction of a school football team. We also have a successful partnership with Airdrie Community Learning and Development to ensure family learning opportunities within our community.
