Our course covers the content of both food and textile technology. Time is spent studying design, food and textiles. The course structure is the same as S1 with \u00be year primarily focused around food and pupils will cook every second week. The remaining \u00bc of the year in S2 is spent on textile technology. Units covered throughout S2 are as follows;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Foods around the world<\/strong><br \/>\nThis unit focuses on &#8211;<br \/>\nIndividual needs<br \/>\nPupils will learn about the dietary needs of different individuals. The three main groups covered are Toodlers &amp; young children, adolescents\/ teenagers and Vegetarians.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Street Food<\/strong><br \/>\nThroughout this unit pupils will look at the product development process.<br \/>\nThey will get the opportunity to work in groups to research, design, develop and make their own food product. This unit is an Interdisciplinary project throughout the school and pupils will work on the following;<\/p>\n<p>Home Economics \u2013 Creating product &amp; recipe<br \/>\nTechnical \u2013 Creating promotional materials &amp; packaging<br \/>\nMusic \u2013 Creating a jingle for product<br \/>\nModern Languages \u2013 Translating the recipe<br \/>\nP.E \u2013 Burning calories<br \/>\nICT \u2013 Creating advertisement &amp; recipe card<br \/>\nScience &#8211;<br \/>\nHumanities \u2013 Food miles of ingredients<\/p>\n<p>On our annual health day pupils host their very own street food festival to showcase all of their fantastic work within departments. Each class has their own stall with a variety of food samples to taste. In addition to this variety of pupil workshops are hosted on the day, thanks to our links with Food and drinks federation Scotland, Pender\u2019s Butchers, QMS and Sandro\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sock Monkey\u2019s<\/strong><br \/>\nPupils will use a pair of socks to create a sock monkey.
