Shoe Share Scheme

This initiative was spearheaded by our PT of Science, Gillian Melvin and our RRS Group Leaders, Linda Brown and Jacqueline Burton, pictured above during the official handover to Clarks Representatives, Laura Wilson and Gayle McCredie (former pupil).

As part of Coatbridge High School’s journey to silver, caring and considerate pupils, parents/carers and staff of Coatbridge High School took part in the Clarks Shoe Share scheme in conjunction with Unicef and the Rights Respecting Schools programme.

The amazing efforts from a whole school approach saw over 14  sacks of shoes collected throughout May-June 2019 under the theme of “Passing something on” for the good of others.  We have calculated that this equates to approximately one pair for every young person in the school.

The incredulous haul of shoes in response to this wonderful and charitable campaign will help children around the world access their right to education and go to school. #Article 28, #Article 29

Assistant Manager, Laura Wilson and Team Leader, Gayle McCredie from Clarks, Glasgow Fort visited Coatbridge High School in order to give special thanks and accept handover of the impressive shoe collection.  Both were overwhelmed by the generosity from the whole community of Coatbridge High School.

A special thank you to Ms C Dick, Art Teacher for her inspiring shoe box design and collection point.  Additional thanks to our Pupil Support Team and School of Rugby for highlighting this campaign through lessons and for issuing parental letters and to our IT Technician, Mr Inch for displaying feature presentations through the canteen screens.  Well done everyone.
