Political Theory<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Candidates study the key political concepts of power, authority and legitimacy, with particular\u00a0reference to the work of Steven Lukes and Max Weber, and analyse the relevance of these\u00a0concepts today.<\/p>\n

They study the nature of democracy and the arguments for and against direct and\u00a0representative democracy, including the works of relevant theorists.<\/p>\n

Candidates study the key ideas of two political ideologies (from Liberalism, Conservatism,\u00a0Socialism, Nationalism, and Fascism) including the works of relevant theorists, and draw\u00a0balanced conclusions about the chosen ideologies.<\/p>\n

Relevant case studies are used from either local, national or international contexts, as well as
\ndifferent historical contexts<\/p>\n
