Scotland
In this unit we will examine the impact of the Great War on Scotland and its political, social, economic and cultural effects. Themes will include conflict, change and identity.
- Western Front– the experience of Scots on the Western Front including trench life and major ‘Scottish’ battles including the Battle of the Somme
- Society– the impact the war had on the lives of citizens in Scotland
- Economy– the changes to Scotland’s industrial landscape as a result of the war
- Politics– the ramifications for politics in Scotland during and after the Great War including the huge impact of Red Clydeside
