Welcome to the CNHS Higher English Website.<\/p>\n

In Higher English, you will, you will study 1-2 main texts and write critical essays on these.<\/p>\n

You will also study a Scottish Set Text (set by SQA) which you will have to answer questions on.<\/p>\n

RUAE skills will be a main component of the course: reading two non-fiction articles and answering questions on these.<\/p>\n

Additionally throughout the year you will be asked to write a folio of work- one discursive essay and one creative essay*. These will be redrafted and submitted to the SQA. This counts for 30% of your overall mark.<\/p>\n

*This is currently only one essay of your choice, as amended by SQA post-Covid.<\/p>\n

Your exam will be: one close reading (RUAE)<\/strong>, one set text and one critical essay.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Supported Study is held throughout the year, both in class and on Teams.<\/p>\n
