via the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brigade.uk.com\/parents\/school\/CL4349PD\/\">Brigade Website<\/a>\u00a0.<\/h6>\n<p>All North Lanarkshire schools must have a dress code which encourages pupils to dress in a way which is appropriate to attendance at school.<\/p>\n<p>Clothing which is unacceptable in school under any circumstances includes items which:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>could potentially encourage factions (e.g. football colours)<\/li>\n<li>could cause offence (e.g. anti-religious symbolism or political slogans)<\/li>\n<li>could cause health and safety difficulties such as loose fitting clothing, dangling earrings, and other potentially dangerous jewellery.<\/li>\n<li>are of flammable materials which may be a danger in certain classes (e.g. shell suits)<\/li>\n<li>could cause damage to flooring<\/li>\n<li>carry advertising in particular for alcohol or tobacco and could be used to inflict damage on other pupils or to be used by others to do so.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Footwear and Clothing Grant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Parents in receipt of a grant for footwear and clothing from the council will be encouraged to purchase items which are in accordance with the school dress code.\u00a0 Approval of any requests for such grants in other circumstances are at the discretion of the director of education.\u00a0 Information and application forms may be obtained from any school or area office.\u00a0 Parents are entitled to receive a clothing grant if they are in receipt of any of the following benefits:\u00a0\u00a0<em>income support, job seeker\u2019s allowance (income based), housing benefit, council tax rebate.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>More information can be accessed via the North Lanarkshire website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk\/schools-and-learning\/school-meals\/free-school-meals-and-clothing-grants\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The council wishes to minimise claims arising from the loss of pupils\u2019 clothing and\/or personal belongings.\u00a0 Parents are asked to assist in this area by ensuring that valuable items and unnecessarily expensive items of clothing, jewellery etc.\u00a0 are not brought to school.\u00a0 Parents should note than any claims submitted to cover the loss of such items are likely to be met only where the authority can be shown to have been
