Ben Nevis Challenge 2016

20160618_151208Our first ever school organised Ben Nevis Challenge took place on Saturday 18th June, 2016 where 37 pupils and 8 members of staff were accompanied by 4 mountain leaders in a sponsored climb for Macmillan and World Challenge.

It was a very warm and sunny day and the views from the summit were spectacular! Everyone did really well on the day, and everyone achieved something very special.  Three out of the four groups managed to reach the summit, and everyone had an enjoyable day.

So far we have raised just over £1800 for Macmillan and £580 for our World Challenge expedition to Southern Tanzania. This is an amazing amount of money and everyone should be so proud of themselves.

Ben Nevis Challenge – Final Details

Pupils have now been issued with all of the information that they need to safely climb Ben Nevis.

Key Information

  • The bus will be leaving the school at 5.30am sharp. Pupils are asked to be in the school car park no later than 5.15am.
  • We should return to the school car park between 10.00pm and 11.00pm.  Pupils will be asked to contact you when we are close to home to let you know a more accurate time.  Could you please collect or arrange for someone to collect your son/daughter when we arrive back at the school, as they will not be allowed to make their own way home at such a late hour.

Ben Nevis

Thank you to all S3, S4 and S5 parents and pupils for quickly returning consent forms and bus money  for the Ben Nevis trip.

Can all S4 and S5 pupils who haven’t already collected their sponsor forms for this event please collect one from Miss Renicks as soon as possible.  Once all pupils have returned from study leave, there will be a meeting to give out important information regarding health and safety, equipment and the finer details of the trip.

Chryston High Ski Trip 2016

This week will see 29 students from S1 to S6 get involved the annual Chryston High School Ski trip.

Staff and pupils will depart from Glasgow on Saturday 20th February and head off to the Austrian mountains for a week of on piste action.  Landing in Salzburg, they will then make their way to the mountain resort of Aximer Lizum (just above Innsbruck).

It is here they will spend a week doing a combination of skiing and snowboarding in different groups based on ability and experience.

They will receive guidance from highly skilled instructors throughout the day with activities planned for each night, including a trip to Innsbruck.

Word from the slopes is that conditions are favourable at the moment and will continue to be for the duration of the trip.

Let’s hope this year’s group have as much fun as last year’s budding Bode Millers!
