SMART CHOICE:GERMAN launch event

German flag

Chryston High has been named the first Scottish school to be added to the Goethe Institut’s Smart Choice:German network.  The network aims to promote German and encourage work between the primary and secondary sectors.

On Thursday 2nd March at 1:15pm, there is an event to celebrate the launch of the network and will include various speakers, musical performances from pupils at CHS and our primary cluster schools, as well as the opportunity for our young people to talk to universities and employers about various pathways with languages.

Parents, guardians and friends of the school are welcome to join the event.  The programme has been attached for your reference.

Languages CPD at Chryston

SALTWe had a fantastic turnout for our TeachMeet event on Saturday. Seventy-five modern languages teaching professionals joined us at Chryston High School for a couple of hours of CPD and presentations from leading practitioners.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Chris Devlin, Joanne Sanderson, and Angela Boyd for sharing their experience and insight. Thanks also to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a huge success.

German Concert with Martina Schwarz

Yesterday’s concert, held in conjunction with the Goethe Institut in Glasgow, was a roaring success.  Over two sessions, P5-7 pupils from our 5 cluster primary schools had the opportunity to take part in an interactive concert in German to reinforce some of the language they have been learning at school.

Pupils sang along to songs, danced the Animal Tango and used props to help their understanding.

Thanks again to the Goethe Institut and Martina Schwarz for helping us to strengthen our transition programme with the primary schools.

The concert will take place on Wednesday 1st June.  See you there!
