Voltage wins Battle of the Bands

On Wednesday 18th January Chryston High School’s own band Voltage competed in Battle of the Bands.  We are proud to say that they played outstandingly well and took first place. We interviewed Ryan Bradley and Liam Lau who are part of the band.

We firstly asked Ryan a couple of questions.

“Ryan how long have you and the band been competing in battle of the bands?”

Ryan answered “We have been competing in battle of the bands for four years now and we were very happy when we won.”

We also asked “Were you nervous?” He replied “Well, since we have been doing it for four years now so we weren’t too nervous”

We asked Ryan if in their opinion, any other band was strong competition.  He said, “Yes, we thought every band did well but Cardinal Newman who came second, were very good and it was very close between us.  When we came off stage, I thought we had played very well and was really pleased with our performance.  I thought we had a good chance but I didn’t think we had won.  We played our own song, Defy and a cover of Knights of Cydonia by Muse.”

We also asked Liam a couple of questions. “When did you start to learn the songs you played on the night?” “Well, we made our own song up called Defy and we also played Nights of Cydonia by Muse.” We were curious about who played what and Liam replied “Ryan plays Drums, Liam plays Keyboard, Lauren plays Guitar and Fraser plays Bass Guitar” We also asked if they he had known the other band member for long.  He told us that he hadn’t known Lauren for long but now she was like a best friend to him.

Congratulations to Voltage.  We are all very proud of you.
