Kildrum nursery. The Solihull attachment

Hi everyone, this morning my group went to Kildrum nursery to hear a very informative presentation on the Solihull attachment. We heard from Cheryl Valentine and many other speakers about the Solihull attachment programme. It was very informative.

team-2-1The Solihull attachment was originated by a group of health visitors who realised the normal programmes to help children
were not making any significant difference. This programme is based on 3 different theories. Containment, behaviourism and development and the speakers used visual demonstrations involving the delegates to display how the theories are used in real life situations.

We also heard from a young mum and a grandmother who shared their stories about the Solihull 2 day training programme. The mother stated “we are so much happier” referring to her and her son after she participated in the Solihull attachment training course at Kildrum nursery.

We were also shown clips that demonstrated how practitioners being trained in the Solihull approach makes the lives of children easier as well as the adults. I was so impressed by how much this approach has changed so many people’s lives for the better .

  1. Fantastic blog Shannon! I agree, it was great to hear directly from families how this approach had positively impacted their lives.
