We have been looking at symmetry and pattern through the Christmas theme as well as exploring our CVC words in this context too. We also took some time out to have a little fun.As you can see we’ve been very busy of the festive period. Some Primary 6 children also came in to lend a hand!
Symmetry
We have had a wonderful time exploring symmetry. We have played lots of games( some of them really tricky!) and created some of our own symmetrical drawings. Here we are using our knowledge on the Smartboard.
Christmas Time in Primary 1
We were all very excited to see that the fairies had come in and decorated our class. They even left us some special glitter to make a Christmas wish.
Library Visit
We had a fun time at the library recently. They have lots of super books we can borrow. Some of us were able to borrow books from the library to read at home. If you’re not a member, please pop in to the library with your mum or dad to join.
Number Stories
We have been carrying out lots of fun activities to try to remember our number bonds to 4,5 and 6. It’s really important to learn these now as we will need them all the way through primary school. As you can see there are lots of interesting ways to do this.
Christmas Carnival
We had a fantastic time at our Christmas Carnival.
Pumpkin Carving
We had lots of fun carving our pumpkin for Halloween. It was really tricky using all the carving tools and we had to be really careful with them. It was such good fun and our pumpkin looked amazing! We will write instructions on how to do this tomorrow.
Making Porridge
Primary 1 and 2/1 made some porridge as part of their IDL topic, Bears. We looked at the ingredients and instructions on how to make porridge. The following day we wrote a set of instructions on how to make the porridge. We did a fantastic job and we all got to taste some. It wasn’t too hot, it wasn’t too cold, it was just right!
Active Maths and Literacy
We have been carrying out several activities to help us remember our words, letters and numbers. We even went outside to use chalks on the ground. As you can see we have lots of fun in Primary 1 but it’s very important in our learning.
Have a look at some of the things we have been up to.
Literacy
Here we are reading with our partners and completing some reading activities. It’s important that we have our finger under the words we are reading.
