** Amber weather warning ** An Amber weather warning is in place until 5am on Thursday. While there is likely to be significant snowfall in the south of Scotland, there is less certainty about how this might affect North Lanarkshire. We will assess conditions early on Thursday morning and provide an update at 7am if we intend to close any schools.
** Bus transport ** All council-operated buses for pupils attending Additional Support Needs (ASN) schools have been cancelled on Thursday 18 January.
** Prelim examinations ** All prelim examinations scheduled to take place in North Lanarkshire secondary schools on Thursday 18 January have been postponed due to the adverse weather conditions. Schools will inform young people and parents of the revised arrangements.

Please ensure that your contact details are up to date so that we can get in touch in the event of a School closure or emergency. In severe weather, safety is our utmost concern and parents should check that their children can get to school safely before they set out.
Schools and Nurseries will only be closed in exceptional circumstances. Information will be updated on the North Lanarkshire website, https://www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk from approx. 7am and the North Lanarkshire Twitter feed will be updated regularly with information, @nlcwinter. Where possible we will text you with updates through the School’s messaging system. However, as this relies on staff being in school, messages may not come through as quickly as online updates. Information will also be broadcast on local radio in line with North Lanarkshire protocol procedures.
The school phone number is 01236 794834. However, we would recommend that you check the online information before calling, as phone lines will be busy and staff availability may be affected. Online information can be updated remotely, whereas the text/phone systems can only be operated from the school itself.
