Scottish Ensembles

Scottish Pipe Band

Instrumentation consists of Bagpipes, Snare Drum, Tenor Drum and Bass Drum. This ensemble is usually lead by a Pipe Major.

Scottish Dance Band

This ensemble plays music for dancing at events such as Ceilidhs. Normal instrumentation would consist of Fiddle, Accordion, Piano and Drums. However, this may vary as this ensemble is very flexible.

Scottish Folk Group

Folk Groups play traditional Music. The instrumentation varies a lot as the inclusive nature of the music is such that almost any musicians could be welcome to play. Common instruments include voice, acoustic guitar, fiddle, accordion, harp (Clarsach), tin whistle, bodran (handheld folk drum with a double ended beater )and sometimes even bagpipes.
