VOLUNTEER group Hands Across Shotts\u00a0started earlier this year and hold weekly meetings at Calderhead High School to discuss how they can improve standards for special needs kids in the community.\u00a0The committee, which is made up of parents and those who have family members with disabilities, want to ensure the children get a fair shot in life.<\/p>\n

The Group recently helped get a disabled swing installed at the play park\u00a0and their next aim is to enable \u00a0children to\u00a0participate in Shotts\u00a0Highland Games next year.<\/p>\n

Co-chairperson Allison Hanley said: \u201cWe really want everyone to be able to get the full experience of the highland games, regardless of physical activity.”<\/p>\n
