Obviously we are very proud of all our pupils at Calderhead High School\u00a0and \u00a0were delighted to honour some of them\u00a0at the annual awards ceremony on 21 June.<\/p>\n
The ceremony was held at\u00a0Calderhead Erskine Parish Church in Shotts and pupils, staff and proud family and friends attended. The guest speaker was Dr Fiona Menzies, a former pupil, who gave an inspirational speech and\u00a0made us laugh as she recalled her first day at Calderhead High School. Dr Menzies lectures at the University of the West of Scotland and her teaching interests include host-pathogen interactions, immunology, physiology, and reproductive biology.<\/p>\n
Our talented pupils also provided some excellent entertainment satrting with a spirited rendition of ‘Scotland the Brave’ \u00a0by CHS Pipes & Drums. Our vocal group sang\u00a0“Try Everything”, \u00a0 Steven McLaren and Shana Murray performed ‘Ashokan Farewell’ accompanied\u00a0by Mrs Prucnal, the \u00a0CHS Samba Band treated us to ‘Aquarela do Brasil’, Paige Bryce sang\u00a0 ‘A Thousand Years’ , \u00a0and ‘These Foolish Things’ was performed by Shana Murray, our \u00a0talented flautist.
