Parents and carers already make a huge contribution to their child\u2019s learning at home.\u00a0Many parents feel at a loss when their children enter S3 and above &#8211; confused by the complicated systems of SQA exams, coursework and practical assessments. However, your support, encouragement and interest can make a spectacular difference to your child&#8217;s motivation and ability to cope with the academic and organisational demands of the exam years.<\/p>\n<p>When you, your child and the school work in partnership, you can be sure that your child will achieve the best results possible.\u00a0More information is available on Calderhead High School&#8217;s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/calderhead\/files\/2015\/03\/Study-Advice-for-parents.docx.pdf\">Study Advice for Parents<\/a><\/em> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/calderhead\/useful-links-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">useful links.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You are free to visit or telephone the school at any time. When visiting the school please report to the Main Office in the first instance. Alternatively, you may telephone the Main Office on 01501 826701. In either case, clerical staff will assist and advise you as to which member of staff you ought to see. In most cases an appointment will be arranged with the appropriate teacher.<\/p>\n<p>However, in an emergency, you may contact the Depute Head responsible for your child&#8217;s year group:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>S1\/S2 &#8211;<\/strong> Mr MacPherson<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>S3\/S4 &#8211;<\/strong> Mr Mackay<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>S6\/S6 &#8211;<\/strong> Mr Russell<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to discuss or receive information about your child\u2019s academic progress, courses or timetable you should request an appointment with a Depute Head Teacher. If you wish to discuss<br \/>\nmatters relating to your child\u2019s attendance, behaviour or health you should request an appointment with your child\u2019s Pupil Support teacher.<\/p>\n<p>In the course of the session, Parents\u2019 Meetings are arranged at regular intervals. About 10 days before a Parents\u2019 Meeting, pupils are issued with a letter for you which gives details of the date and<br \/>\ntime of the meeting. You will be given the opportunity to note the teachers you wish to see and individual appointments are consequently arranged. The purpose of these meetings is to give you<br \/>\nthe opportunity to discuss your child\u2019s academic progress and attitude to work.
