Our History programme is designed to spark curiosity, develop critical thinking, and build a strong foundation in historical knowledge and skills.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: left\"><b>Broad General Education (S1\u2013S3)<\/b><\/h5>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">During the BGE, pupils explore a diverse range of historical topics that encourage engagement with both Scottish and global history.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">These include:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><\/div>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left\">\n<li><b>Anne Frank &amp; the Holocaust<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 exploring human rights, prejudice, and resilience<\/li>\n<li><b>Scotland and the Romans<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 examining early interactions and cultural change<\/li>\n<li><b>JFK: The Making of a President<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 understanding leadership and Cold War context<\/li>\n<li><b>The Scottish Wars of Independence<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 investigating national identity and resistance<\/li>\n<li><b>The Causes and Conclusion of World War I<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 analysing global conflict and its legacy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">These topics help learners develop key historical skills such as:<\/div>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left\">\n<li>Chronological understanding<\/li>\n<li>Source analysis and interpretation<\/li>\n<li>Evaluating causes, consequences, and significance<\/li>\n<li>Drawing reasoned conclusions from evidence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">History in the BGE also supports interdisciplinary learning and contributes to the development of the four capacities of\u00a0<b>Curriculum for Excellence<\/b>: successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens, and effective contributors.<\/div>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: left\"><b data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Senior Phase (S4\u2013S6)<\/b><\/h5>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\">\n<div>In the Senior Phase, pupils can choose to study History at various levels, each offering progression in both content and skills:<\/div>\n<h5><b>National 3, 4 &amp; 5 History<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Scottish<\/b>:\u00a0<i>The Era of the Great War, 1900\u20131928<\/i><\/li>\n<li><b>British<\/b>:\u00a0<i>Changing Britain, 1760\u20131914<\/i><\/li>\n<li><b>European &amp; World<\/b>:\u00a0<i>The USA, 1850\u20131880<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>At National 5, learners develop extended writing, construct historical arguments and source-handling skills.
