<\/a><\/p>\nWithin Curriculum for Excellence, the technologies curriculum area relates particularly to contexts that provide scope for developing technological skills, knowledge, understanding and attributes through creative, practical and work-related activities.<\/p>\n
Learning in the technologies enables children and young people to be informed, skilled, thoughtful, adaptable and enterprising citizens, and to:<\/p>\n
- \n
- develop understanding of the role and impact of technologies in changing and influencing societies
\ncontribute to building a better world by taking responsible ethical actions to improve their lives, the lives of others and the environment<\/li>\n - gain the skills and confidence to embrace and use technologies now and in the future, at home, at work and in the wider community<\/li>\n
- become informed consumers and producers who have an appreciation of the merits and impacts of products and services<\/li>\n
- be capable of making reasoned choices relating to the environment, to sustainable development and to ethical, economic and cultural issues<\/li>\n
- broaden their understanding of the role that information and communications technology (ICT) has in Scotland and in the global community<\/li>\n
- broaden their understanding of the applications and concepts behind technological thinking, including the nature of engineering and the links between the technologies and the sciences<\/li>\n
- experience work-related learning, establish firm foundations for lifelong learning and, for some, for specialised study and a diverse range of careers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

The pupils will now use the skills that they have acquired in the first three years in ICT to gain the first of their ICT qualifications.<\/p>\n

The pupils will use various Microsoft programs and Internet Explorer to improve their Computing skills.<\/p>\n
The pupil is required to prepare, check and then run a multimedia presentation.\u00a0 The pupil will use a search engine correctly and safely to find information on the internet.\u00a0 The pupil is required to complete several Word processing, Presentation and Spreadsheet tasks.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\nSelf peer and teacher assessment will be used to ensure the pupils understands what is required and receive appropriate feedback on how to improve.<\/p>\n
At National level, pupils must pass all of the unit assessments to achieve an overall course award.\u00a0 These assessments take place during class time throughout the year.<\/p>\n
