In S1 our pupils stay with the same teacher who teaches them Geography, History and Modern Studies for 3 periods a week. They go to RMPS one period a week.<\/p>\n
They cover the following topics:<\/p>\n
Geography<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Pupils learn about mapping and landscapes. They learn and build skills in map reading before exploring rural and urban landscapes, with a focus on Edinburgh and Loch Lomond.<\/p>\n History<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Pupils learn about the Scottish Wars of Independence. They develop historical skills by analysing primary and secondary sources and learn about William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and the battles of Stirling Bridge and Bannockburn.<\/p>\n Modern Studies<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Pupils learn about democracy in Scotland. They explore what the subject of Modern studies entails before focusing on how democracy functions in Scotland by holding a mock election, learning about the parliament and voting.<\/p>\n RMPS<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Pupils learn about moral leaders. They explore the circumstances of individuals such as Rosa Parks, Dr Martin Luther King Jr\u00a0 and Laverne Cox whilst learning about what morals are, why they matter and how to make moral decisions.<\/p>\n In S2 our pupils rotate through Geography, History and Modern Studies for 4 periods a week. They spend roughly 9 weeks in each subject. They go to RMPS one period a week.<\/p>\n They cover the following topics:<\/p>\n Geography<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Pupils learn about weather and climate change.<\/p>\n History<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Pupils learn about what life was like in Britain during WWII and explore the impact of the Holocaust.<\/p>\n Modern Studies<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Pupils learn about international crimes such as the illegal wildlife trade and Mexican drug cartels.<\/p>\n RMPS<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Pupils learn about capital punishment and gender.<\/p>\n In S3 our pupils have chosen their subjects. If they have chosen any, or a combination, of Geography, History, Modern Studies and\/or RMPs, they will attend for 3 periods a week.<\/p>\n They cover the following topics:<\/p>\n Geography<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Pupils learn about mapping, rivers and population.<\/p>\n History<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Pupils learn about Scotland in WWI.<\/p>\n Modern Studies<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Pupils learn about crime and the law.<\/p>\n RMPS<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Pupils learn about morality and justice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" This area of the website is still under construction.
