About Computing Science

This course is designed for learners who are considering further study or a career in computing science and related disciplines. It provides opportunities to enhance skills in planning and organising, working independently and in teams, critical thinking and decision making, research, communication, and self- and peer-evaluation, in a range of contexts. It has four areas of study:

  • Web Design & Development
  • Software Design & Development

Each of these topic will become more complex throughout the different levels offered.

Computer Systems – Processors and Memory, Binary, Graphics, Compression

Database Design & Development – Relational Databases, Structured Query Language (SQL)

Web Design & Development – HTML, CSS, JavaScript

Software Design & Development – Pseudocode, Programming (LiveCode), Testing & Evaluation

S5/6 (National 5 / Higher)

Computer Systems – System Performance, Smart Systems

Database Design & Development – Analysis, Design, Implementation, Testing, Evaluation

Web Design & Development – Analysis, Design, Implementation, Testing, Evaluation
