Primary 3 have had great fun using their design skills to make an Easter Egg in class. We used paint, pens, glue and lots and lots of glitter. We are waiting on Mr Young to come and have a look and pick the winning egg.
Learning about the Egyptians
Today we are learning about Egyptian men and women. We learned that Egyptians like to wear wigs. Most Egyptians men were farmers and the women looked after the house.
Another Manic Monday!
On Monday we had a very active and varied day…
We were revisited by the community Policemen, Gary & John. They gave us a talk on “Stranger Danger” & “Crossing the Road Safely.”
After that we took part in the school cycle morning. We decorated our bikes and scooters. It was fun to ride them in the playground.
After all that activity we went back to class and diced, cut and grated our way through the next lesson, producing three lovely, heathy savoury salads.
Chop, Chop, Chop!
We went to Mrs O’Neil’s class to taste their Healthy Wraps and they tasted our salad.
It was a very busy day! We learned lots of practical and important skills. We had taken part in many purposeful and creative activities and learned about health and safety.
We learned so much and had great fun!

Measurement
This term primary 3 have been looking at measurement. We have been looking at measurement of length, capacity and weight. Last week we were measuring lengths in the class with rulers and measuring tapes. This week we have been measuring weight in grams and carried out a series of practical investigations to determine the weight of classroom objects.
Our Community
In our “Health and Wellbeing” topic, “My Community,” we have been learning about people who help us. We planned and conducted interviews with the headteacher, policemen, firemen and more. We recorded video and are hoping to bring it all together in a DVD.
Looking over the fire engine.
Talking with the policemen.
It was all very “arresting!”
Fishy Tales
For the last two weeks. We have been working through ‘Read and Respond’ on ‘The Rainbow Fish.’ We enjoyed it so much that we decided to write our own stories. Using a video camera and green screen, we made our own “Fishy Tales” cartoon.
Summerlee Visit
On Friday we visited the Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life in Coatbridge.
We learned about the history of Monkland, and Coatbridge.
We learned that Monkland was founded by the monks of Newbattle Abbey. The monks were the first to mine the local coal.
We learned that monklands canal was later used to transport coal to Glasgow.
We learned that the development of local ironworks allowed the use of rich local deposts of iron ore.
Coalmining and ironworking became central to the community of the growing town of Coatbridge.
The miners cottages.

From Postmen to Authors
Following our successful completion of the Christmas postal deliveries, our posties turned their hand to writing and became authors.
The authors read their stories to primary 1.
Primary 1 pupils clapped and said they enjoyed the stories. They sent thank you letters to our class.
