Early Literacy skills

We have been taking part in a variety of experiences to develop our literacy skills. Looking and listening to stories, sharing our own thoughts and experiences. Using pictures to talk about and recall The Nativity Story. Looking at words and discussing where the first letter is and overwriting letters.

Information for Parents on Returning to St Bartholomew’s Nursery Class

       Information for parents   August 2020

All of our staff are very much looking forward to welcoming all our nursery children back on Wednesday 12th August.

The procedures for drop off and pick up will be different.  To enter the nursery/school grounds via the gate on Deveron Street and for you to follow the arrows on the path down the side of the building to the nursery door. At the door you will find a stop sign on the ground to signify the drop off point. Please remember to socially distance as you make your way to the nursery. Once you have dropped your child off you turn back and follow the arrows back up the path to exit the same gate on Deveron Street.

At present we are working with the allocation of 600 hrs and hope to move to 1140 hrs allocation when possible. Each group of children will have a staggered start and end time.

               Rainbow Room:

Blue Group   Mrs Kelly   Start Time: 8.45am

Yellow Group Mrs Ruddy   Start Time: 9.45 am

Green Group Mrs Whelan   Start Time:  11am

          Sunshine Room:

Start time 9 am

Unfortunately parents will not be able to enter the building to drop your child off or to pick them up, however you will find a familiar member of Nursery Staff at the door to greet you.

We are aware that returning to Nursery will be an exciting but anxious time for you all. We will be bringing children back in smaller groups to support yourself and your child to be reassured and settled back into Nursery.

Children will need soft shoes/plimsolls to change into before entering the playroom. They will also need a pair of wellies. Both will need to be left in the nursery at all times.

We look forward to seeing you all.

The Nursery Staff have been busy contacting all the families returning on Wednesday. If you have not received a phone call or email can you please contact the school office to check your contact details.
