Our cocoons have now been transferred into the special pop up enclosure they have. Now all we have to do is to be patient and wait for some butterflies to emerge.
Sorting ourselves into groups
We have been sorting ourselves into groups this week in nursery. To do this, we followed ‘The Sorting Path’ all the way to a noticeboard. On the noticeboard was a rule. If we followed this rule, we sat on the ‘yes’ mat. If we didn’t, we sat on the ‘no’ mat. This meant that we had sorted ourselves into groups!
Well done everyone!
What’s new in our nursery
Terrific Trophy
From Caterpillar to Cocoon
What a surprise we had this week! Our very hungry caterpillars have eaten enough to reach the next stage of their life cycle. They have all built their own little cocoons and are now beginning to change again. We have been learning that after two weeks they will emerge as butterflies! We can’t wait to see!
Sorting Teddy Bears!
In nursery, we have been learning all about sorting. We have been putting items into groups and following rules when we do so. This week, we have looked to sort our teddy bears into groups according to their colour. Have a look at our hard work!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Blue Group
Caterpillar Update
We’ve only had our caterpillars for a week but already they’ve doubled in size. Like the Very Hungry Caterpillar they spend all their time eating, and eating and eating! If we look at them with the magnifying glass, we can see there little feet and we can see their jaws constantly munching. They are also starting to spin some silvery threads so we don’t think it will be too long before they start to build their cocoons.
Spring Walk
Today we went on a lovely walk to find any signs of spring. We stopped to listen to the birds singing and everyone agreed that it’s beginning to feel a little warmer in the sunshine. Lots of the plants and trees we spotted are showing signs that they are starting to grow again after a long cold winter.
