Pattern Hunt

The boys and girls have been learning all about patterns this week. We found out that a pattern can be made up of colours and shapes. We went around the school to look for some patterns that we could spot. Excellent work again boys and girls!

Fruit Patterns

We have been looking very carefully at fruit this week. We noticed that, when you look at the inside of a fruit, the colours, lines and shapes all combine to make up a pattern. We worked hard to try and create some fruit patterns of our own!

When we sort

The children continue to study sorting in our nursery. This week, we had to sort out some diamonds and gold coins from a special treasure chest! We noticed that when you sort items into groups, the items in a group must be similar in some way. What great work from everyone!

Sorting ourselves into groups

We have been sorting ourselves into groups this week in nursery. To do this, we followed ‘The Sorting Path’ all the way to a noticeboard. On the noticeboard was a rule. If we followed this rule, we sat on the ‘yes’ mat. If we didn’t, we sat on the ‘no’ mat. This meant that we had sorted ourselves into groups!

Well done everyone!

Sorting Teddy Bears!

In nursery, we have been learning all about sorting. We have been putting items into groups and following rules when we do so. This week, we have looked to sort our teddy bears into groups according to their colour. Have a look at our hard work!

We had to search through the sand!

We had to concentrate very hard1
If we found a teddy bear that did not match the colour of our bowl, we put it back in the sand

We had to make sure that the colour of the teddy bears matched the colours of our bowl!

Time!

We have started to learn about time in nursery. This week, we were talking about routines in our nursery and how to put events in order. Have a look!

A very busy nursery

We have been studying the size of objects in nursery recently. This week, we looked to put objects into the correct container by studying the different qualities of our objects. Some objects were tall, some were wide and others were inbetween! Have a look at how we got on!

We have also been looking at the properties of water. We found out that water can be a liquid, it can be heated up to make steam and can even be frozen into a solid! Wow!

Finally, we look forward to seeing all the mums, dads and anyone else who would like to come along to our ‘Active Families’ session tomorrow. You can find out what time your child will be taking part by having a look at our nursery notice board. It should be a lot of fun!

Heavy or Light

We have been learning to describe objects in different ways recently. This week, we focussed on using the words “heavy” or “light” to describe the weight of objects. We decided to conduct a test using a container of water to decide whether an object was heavy or whether it was light. If an object was heavy, it would sink! If it was light, it would float!
