It is essential therefore, that school records i.e. telephone numbers and emergency contact names etc. are kept up to date.\u00a0 It is essential that a suitable arrangement is made, in case a child has to be sent home from school.<\/p>\n<p>It is of great importance that the Head Teacher is informed of any medical or general wellbeing issues which may affect the child\u2019s behaviour or progress in school.\u00a0 Please discuss with the Head Teacher any particular medical \/ wellbeing requirements, your child may have.<\/p>\n<p>If a young person is unable to attend a suitable educational establishment as a result of prolonged ill health, North Lanarkshire Council must make special arrangements for the pupil to receive education elsewhere, other than at an educational establishment. In North Lanarkshire, children and young people are treated in the paediatric in \u2013 patient unit within University Hospital Wishaw. It is not common for children and young people to have extended stays in University Hospital Wishaw, and therefore North Lanarkshire Council does not require a dedicated hospital education service.<\/p>\n<p>Children and young people resident in North Lanarkshire and in hospital in Glasgow, may access education through the Hospital Education Service (HES). The service is provided by Glasgow City Education Department and Social Work Services.
