Banton Buddies had lots of fun during their learning on Friday! In the morning, Primary 4/5/6 headed out to clean up our school grounds by collecting as much litter as they could! The class did extremely well, and managed to find a variety of items – from crisp packets to ice cream tub lids! We worked in pairs to help one an other and were then able to discuss what each other had found!
We also contributed to our ‘Tree of Promises’ within our school in relation to COP26. We each created a leaf using a template – on the leaf, we created promises that can help the world that we live in to become a better and greener place. On one side of each leaf, we put down our own promise as to what we can do to help our environment – on the other side, we put down a promise that we would like those within government to fulfil for us as well. When using colour, we chose lots of different shades of red, green, brown, yellow and orange for our leaves.
During our day, we also created Fair-trade and Sustainability Logo’s for a competition within the school. One badge will be chosen once all of the designs are complete. P4/5/6 have made a fantastic effort on theirs – included in some of their designs are fair-trade fruit, the Banton Primary logo, the eco flag and a variety of different original designs.
In the afternoon with Mrs Rae, we progressed our cooking skills by creating some delicious apple muffins! These apples were picked in Banton by our Primary 1-3 pupils this week and the juicy fresh apples were then used for our cooking experience! Primary 4/5/6 measured our their ingredients, followed instructions correctly and then mixed all of their ingredients together to be put into the oven for baking! They were very tasty, and we even managed to grab 5 minutes at the end of the day to taste test them outside!
