Biggies time at Dow’s woods

Today we went to Dow’s woods with the wee ones. We were all looking for signs of autumn. The biggies and the wee ones were partners. This is how our trip went …

Signs of autumn

When we were walking with our wee partners we were looking out for signs of autumn some of the sings we found were hazelnuts that had fallen of of a tree, brambles, rowan berries, and changing leaves some of these things we collected.  Also the biggies were looking out for trip hazards and eye hazards while we were walking with our wee buddies.

When we arrived to our spot

When we arrived to out usual spot in the woods we looked for more signs after that our wee buddies had to leave. Once they left we decided to draw a tree we each picked a tree to draw. We have to remember which tree we drew because we are going to go back and draw it in different seasons. When we were finished drawing we wrote some poems about our trees.

Games and chaos

When we finished drawing and writing we played some games the games we played were sardines. Which is where a couple of people hide and if you find a person you have to hide with them until eventually everyone is found. When I found someone they were lying down on the mud hiding so then I had to join them until their was three of us thankfully time was up. Then after that we ran all the way back to school.

I really enjoyed the wood especially getting to show the wee ones the wood since some of them have never seen it. I hope we do this again some time.

Litter pick in Dow’s woods

Today we Went to Dows woods. We went because we were going to do a community litter pick.

So in the morning we set off we collected our bags and put on our gloves and of course picked up our litter pickers. When we went into Dow’s wood we went searching for litter at the start we got a couple of bits. We were all in partners and we took shots each of holding the litter picker and the bags.

When we went further in the woods we found some more litter we found a couple of green plastic things that was laying about so we took them to the path and decided we would collect them on the way back since they were big.

So we ventured on until we reached one of our favourite bits of the woods which is where the rocks are then we took a photo of all of the rubbish we found. Some of the rubbish we found was a chicken feeder plastic tubes which we took of off the trees that had grown to big for them and some containers from sweets. It was really great going to Dow’s woods and I think we all hope we will ventures there again.

Working in the media

Working in the Media

About her job

Yesterday we had a meeting with a tv producer called Christine. She was helping us with a few tips for our podcasts. She told us she didn’t just work for just the one company and she is  now working on editorial. Editorial is when you focus on what’s the story, what’s the program. Some of the jobs that are need where she works are camera men and sound engineers.

Tips for us

One of the tips she gave us was to get it done on time and be organised. Also she said to spread the time apart and not just spend it on the one subject. The second tip was scheduling and that it takes them a day to get a five minute program done. The third tip was make sure your communicating with people. Fourth tip was if your a script person to focus on the beginning, middle and end and if your the one speaking speak like your speaking to a friend.
