{"id":905,"date":"2015-06-19T09:45:21","date_gmt":"2015-06-19T09:45:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/anntest3\/?page_id=155"},"modified":"2026-05-13T17:14:41","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T16:14:41","slug":"parent-council","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/balmalloch\/parent-council\/","title":{"rendered":"Parent Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>THE PARENT COUNCIL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our Parent Council Comprises of:<\/p>\n<p>Parent Council Chair: Carrie Strachan (P2, P4 &amp; P7 parent)<\/p>\n<p>Secretary: Rotational<\/p>\n<p>Members: Alison Breingan (P4 parent), Stewart Derrick (P1, P5 &amp; P7 Parent), Laura Young (P6 parent), Rhona Stillie Brown (P7 parent), Alissa Kaufmann (P4 parent), Nicola Breen Patrick (P5 parent), Jennifer Molloy (P4 &amp; P6 parent), Sarah Curran (P3 &amp; P6 parent), Kimberly Wilson (P2 parent).<\/p>\n<p>Staff: Miss McCarthy (HT), Mr John Paterson (PT)<\/p>\n<p>The Head Teacher has a right and duty to attend all meetings of the Parent Council and acts as professional advisor to the Parent Council. Parent Council meetings are open to members of the public.<\/p>\n<p>North Lanarkshire has a Twitter site devoted to Parent Councils \u2013 you call follow it here @ParentNorth<\/p>\n<p>Parent Council members:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 The council will be made up of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 current parents.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Each parent will be selected for a period of 1 year, however they may put themselves forward for reselection if desired.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Any parent of a child within the school can volunteer to be a member of the Parent Council.<\/p>\n<p>Please feel free to download our Parent Council Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>The Parent Council\u2019s rights and duties include:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 supporting the work of the school<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 representing the views of parents<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 consulting with parents and reporting back to the Parent Forum on matters of interest<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 promoting contact between the school, parents, pupils, providers of nursery education and the wider community<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 taking part in the selection of senior promoted staff<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 receiving reports from the Head Teacher and Education Authority and<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 receiving an annual budget for administration, training and other expenses.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 improving home school partnership and facilitating parental involvement<\/p>\n<p>You can contact the Parent Council by emailing balmallochpc@yahoo.com .
