THE PARENT COUNCIL<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our Parent Council Comprises of:<\/p>\n

Parent Council Chair: Carrie Strachan (P2, P4 & P7 parent)<\/p>\n

Secretary: Rotational<\/p>\n

Members: Alison Breingan (P4 parent), Stewart Derrick (P1, P5 & P7 Parent), Laura Young (P6 parent), Rhona Stillie Brown (P7 parent), Alissa Kaufmann (P4 parent), Nicola Breen Patrick (P5 parent), Jennifer Molloy (P4 & P6 parent), Sarah Curran (P3 & P6 parent), Kimberly Wilson (P2 parent).<\/p>\n

Staff: Miss McCarthy (HT), Mr John Paterson (PT)<\/p>\n

The Head Teacher has a right and duty to attend all meetings of the Parent Council and acts as professional advisor to the Parent Council. Parent Council meetings are open to members of the public.<\/p>\n

Parent Council members:<\/p>\n

\u00b7 The council will be made up of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 current parents.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Each parent will be selected for a period of 1 year, however they may put themselves forward for reselection if desired.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Any parent of a child within the school can volunteer to be a member of the Parent Council.<\/p>\n

The Parent Council\u2019s rights and duties include:<\/p>\n

\u00b7 supporting the work of the school<\/p>\n

\u00b7 representing the views of parents<\/p>\n

\u00b7 consulting with parents and reporting back to the Parent Forum on matters of interest<\/p>\n

\u00b7 promoting contact between the school, parents, pupils, providers of nursery education and the wider community<\/p>\n

\u00b7 taking part in the selection of senior promoted staff<\/p>\n

\u00b7 receiving reports from the Head Teacher and Education Authority and<\/p>\n

\u00b7 receiving an annual budget for administration, training and other expenses.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 improving home school partnership and facilitating parental involvement<\/p>\n

Members of Parent Councils, on a voluntary basis, may also have an advisory role in decisions on placing requests by parents in respect of those situations where the number of placing requests for a particular school or for a particular stage in a particular school exceeds the number of places available.<\/p>\n
