The Parent Council\u2019s rights and duties include:
\n\u2022 supporting the work of the school;
\n\u2022 representing the views of parents;
\n\u2022 consulting with parents and reporting back to the Parent Forum on matters of interest;
\n\u2022 promoting contact between the school, parents, pupils, providers of nursery education and the wider community;
\n\u2022 fundraising;
\n\u2022 taking part in the selection of senior promoted staff;
\n\u2022 receiving reports from the head teacher and education authority; and
\n\u2022 receiving an annual budget for administration, training and other expenses
\n\u2022 improving home school partnership and facilitating parental involvement<\/p>\n
Members of Parent Councils, on a voluntary basis, may also have an advisory role in decisions on placing requests by parents in respect of those situations where the number of placing requests for a particular school or for a particular stage in a particular school exceeds the number of places available.<\/p>\n
The Parent Council was established during 2009\/2010.<\/p>\n
