I couldn’t believe that some of the eggs had hatched into alevin over the weekend and start of the week. Today we had a chance to take them out of the hatchery and look at them under the microscope. We recorded the changes in our growth diaries. Was anyone else surprised?

We also enjoyed the cold, fresh air during our French lesson today. We played games and went on a scavenger hunt to find colours in and around our playground. We created rubbings of the colours and labelled them in French. Did you enjoy this boys and girls?

The fish are here!!

They are here!!!! Primary 6 were so excited to receive our deliverly of little trout eggs yesterday. Davy our fish expert came and gave us a talk, letting us see the eggs up close before they went into the tank. We have been struggling to maintain the temperature of the water so now the pressure is on! The fish are our responsibility… eek!

Primary 6 – Launch of Clyde in the Classroom

On Thursday 15th of January primary 6 attended the launch of the Clyde in the Classroom project at the Glasgow Science Centre. Children had a great time exploring all the experiments around the malls and listening to presentations about the project. They got a chance to see the hatchery, how it is set up and see some of the eggs. I think they were a bit surprised to find out the hatchery is being delivered…. TODAY!! Children will learn how to control the temperature of the water in the hatchery before the eggs are delivered on Wednesday 28th of January.
