Music can provide opportunities for all pupils to be successful in their learning and encourages them to become responsible individuals.

By taking part in class performances, pupils are taught to be respectful and supportive of the other pupils in their class.

There is a wide range of extra-curricular activites on offer in the music department that provide pupils with an opportunity to continue to achieve positive learning experiences and encourages them to become responsible and respected in the school community.

The Music Department has three large classrooms, each with separate practice rooms. Each classroom is fully equipped with keyboards, guitars, drum kits and xylophones. In addition to this, the department has a class sets of Macs, each installed with various music software including Sibelius, Garageband and Logic. The department also has a purpose built recording studio.

The department has three members of teaching staff. The five visiting instrumental instructors provide tuition on guitar, woodwind, brass, the drum kit and a variety of percussion instruments.
