The staff of the Support for Learning Department work with students, parents and colleagues across the school to ensure that all young people at Airdrie Academy have the best learning experience and environment to allow them to learn and develop to their fullest potential. The staff have extensive experience of working with students with a wide variety of additional needs in a number of different contexts within the school. There is a very wide range of support available and we aim to offer support that is student-centred and flexible to meet the individual needs of the young people in Airdrie Academy.
The Support for Learning Department works closely with many other professionals from outside schools: CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service), School Nurses, social work and lead professionals from the local authority.
At the centre of all that we do, is the young people and we place a high priority on the students’ views and feelings about the support that they receive. For us, therefore, flexible support for every individual is key.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you,
Mrs O’Connor (Principal Teacher)
