Assessment is an important part of learning and teaching at Abronhill Primary School. It helps us to understand how children are progressing and to plan next steps in learning.<\/p>\n
Assessment is ongoing and part of daily classroom practice. Staff gather evidence through observations, discussions, children\u2019s work and a range of assessment approaches, including formative, summative and diagnostic assessments.<\/p>\n
We build a holistic picture of each child\u2019s learning over time<\/strong>, ensuring that professional judgement is not based on a single assessment or piece of evidence.<\/p>\n Children also take part in national assessments at Primary 1, Primary 4 and Primary 7<\/strong>, which provide additional information to support our understanding of progress.<\/p>\n Teacher professional judgement<\/strong> is central to our approach. Staff use their knowledge of each child, alongside assessment evidence, to make informed decisions about progress and next steps.<\/p>\n Children are actively involved in their learning.
