As such, you are invited to attend our Parent Council Meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Meetings usually run for an hour in the staffroom.<\/p>\n<p>The composition of the Parent Council will be determined by the Parent Forum. The Head Teacher will be the professional adviser to the Parent Council. The agreed composition for the <strong>Townhead Primary School Parent Council<\/strong> is a minimum of 3 parents, maximum 12 members. Parent representatives are elected by parents who are on the school&#8217;s electoral roll. This roll is updated annually.<\/p>\n<p><u>The Parent Council\u2019s rights and duties include<\/u>:<\/p>\n<p>(a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 supporting the work of the school<\/p>\n<p>(b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 representing the views of parents<\/p>\n<p>(c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 consulting with parents and reporting back to the Parent\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Forum on matters of interest<\/p>\n<p>(d)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 promoting contact between the school, parents, pupils, providers of nursery education and the wider community<\/p>\n<p>(e)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 fundraising<\/p>\n<p>(f)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 taking part in the selection of senior promoted staff<\/p>\n<p>(g)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 receiving reports from the Head Teacher and education authority<\/p>\n<p>(h)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 receiving an annual budget for administration, training and other expenses<\/p>\n<p>(i)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 improving home\/school partnership and facilitating parental involvement<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>Parent Council Office Bearers<\/u>:<\/p>\n<p>Chairperson: K. Mc Aleney<\/p>\n<p>Co-opted members:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mrs J Cowan &amp; Miss N Edwards<\/p>\n<p>Head Teacher:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Mrs F Ferguson (Adviser)<\/p>\n<p>The Head Teacher has the right and duty to attend all meetings of the Parent Council. Meetings of the Parent Council are open to members of the public.<\/p>\n<p>The Parent Council will be selected for a period of 2 years, after which they may put themselves forward for re-selection if they wish. All the parents of children at the school can take part in the selection of their representatives and will have 2 weeks in which to do so. Any parents of a child at the school can volunteer to be a member of the Parent Council. In the event that the number of volunteers exceeds the number of places set out in the constitution, members will be selected by election. Anyone not selected to be a member of the Parent Council may be offered the opportunity to be part of any sub-groups set up by the Council.<\/p>\n<p>Members of Parent Councils, on a voluntary basis, may also have an advisory role in decisions on placing requests by parents in respect of those situations where the number of placing requests for a particular school or for a particular stage in a particular school exceeds the number of places available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our next Parent Council Meeting is :\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Monday the 19th of January 2026 at 3pm<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PARENT COUNCIL If your child attends Townhead Primary School or Nursery Class, you are a member of our Parent Forum.
