Meetings of the Parent Council are open to members of the public and will be announced in the newsletters and on the school app.\u00a0 If a vacancy becomes open on the Parent Council all parents will be informed and invited to nominate themselves. The Parent Council in St Bernadette\u2019s is very supportive of the school and works hard to represent the views of the wider Parent Forum.\u00a0 Any parent can make direct contact with members of the Parent Council if they have a concern related to the general work of the school.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Parent Council\u2019s rights and duties include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 (a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 supporting the work of the school;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 representing the views of parents;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 (c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 consulting with parents and reporting back to the Parent Forum on matters of interest;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(d)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 promoting contact between the school, parents, pupils, providers of nursery education and the wider community;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (e)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 fundraising;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (f)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 taking part in the selection of senior promoted staff;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (g)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 receiving reports from the Head Teacher and Education Authority;\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 (h)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 receiving an annual budget for administration, training and other expenses; and<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (i)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 improving home school partnership and facilitating parental involvement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Members of Parent Councils, on a voluntary basis, may also have an advisory role in<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>decisions on placing requests by parents in respect of those situations where the number<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>of placing requests for a particular school or for a particular stage in a particular school<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>exceeds the number of places available.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Parent Council can be contacted in person, care of the school or via our email address:\u00a0 <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:stbernadettesparentcouncil@yahoo.co.uk\"><strong>stbernadettesparentcouncil@yahoo.co.uk<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Our Fundraising Group meet in the school.\u00a0 Every parent is warmly invited to join in with all fundraising activities.\u00a0 They organise a variety of events e.g. Family Nights, Christmas Fayre, Pupils\u2019 Discos, throughout the school year which help to subsidise events and materials e.g. ICT equipment, our school library, outdoor jackets etc. for the pupils.\u00a0 Meetings are held in tandem with the Parent Council meetings and prior to an event.\u00a0 Dates and times of meetings will be announced in the monthly newsletter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE PARENT COUNCIL: A Parent Council has been established and there are currently 10 members.
