In S3 PE Studies learners will continue to develop the Significant Aspects of Learning (Physical Competencies, Physical Fitness, Cognitive Skills and Personal Qualities) and will work on the PE Experiences and Outcomes at Third and Fourth Levels of A Curriculum for Excellence.
This will allow learners to develop their practical performance skills in a range of activities and also improve their understanding of the four factors that impact on performance (Mental, Emotional, Social and Physical).
PE Studies begins the transition from Broad General Education to National Qualification PE.
The S3 course currently looks at the following areas of study
- Aspects of Fitness
- Badminton
- Hockey
- Football or Netball
- Table Tennis
- Volleyball
- Trampolining
- Factors Impacting Performance
Learners will have three periods of PE Studies per week, two periods will be practical and one period will be a theory lesson. Learners will also be expected to complete homework and end of block assessments to monitor progress.
