Profile Help

Brief advice on what to include in your profile is provided here. More details and suggestions can be found on the Profile Help for Pupils blog.

Writing a good profile

  • Keep your ePortfolio up-to-date with key information; use the list of categories to remind yourself what areas you should include.  The posts in your ePortfolio will be used to create your Profile.
  • Focus on your best achievements in all areas of learning both in and out of school.
  • Remember to check spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Use a basic, black font.

Evidence of skills I have developed

  • The posts in your ePortfolio should record the skills that you have developed and why you think these are strength. 
  • When have you shown your skills?
  • Can you give examples eg working with others, being a member of a school committee, or leading a team?
  • Skills might include literacy, numeracy, health and wellbeing, leadership, working with others, problem solving and ICT. Look at the skills on the Profile Help for Pupils blog for ideas about what the skills might look like.

About Me / Me as a Learner
Use the front page of your ePortfolio to describe yourself and your life both in and out of school: 

  • What are your interests and hobbies?  What activities do you do in your spare time?
  • How do you feel about school?  What do you enjoy doing at school?
  • What subjects are your strengths?
  • What are your proudest moments?  Have you received any awards?

You should also try to talk about yourself as a learner, your strengths and personal qualities.  This might include comments about:

  • being hard working or what helps you to achieve success in your learning;
  • your ability to organise your time and the work you have to complete;
  • your ability to work well within a team, contribute/share ideas, help to complete tasks and meet deadlines;
  • having a positive ‘have a go’ attitude;
  • your ability to concentrate and focus on tasks;
  • how you like to learn.

What have you done particularly well?
What are you proud of?

Here are some suggestions on things you might include:

  • involvement in a project, club or activity at school;
  • having a particular job or responsibility in class and/or in school;
  • being a member of a committee or team;
  • being a buddy or mentor to younger children;
  • any certificates, awards or prizes you have gained in class, school or out of school;
  • your interests or hobbies

  • What are your hopes for the future?
  • What do you expect from your time in secondary school?
  • What would you like to learn more about?
  • Are there any other areas of interest out with school you hope to be involved in?
