Homework for weeks beginning 29/2/16 and 7/3/16
The height of fun
This week P6/7 have been learning all about measuring length. We have found out that Adam is the tallest in the class and Brooke is the second tallest, Lewis is the shortest.
we went outside to measure the new playground equipment.
The infants house is 170 cm which is 1 meter and 70 cm tall.
The juniors tunnel is 1 meter and 29 cm which is 129 cm.
the Seniors climbing frame is 173 cm which is 1 meter and 73 cm.
WE have enjoyed converting our measure between meters and cm and even used a calculator to convert from cm to inches.
Our Brown Trout
We have had a very busy week since our fish eggs were delivered. We have been taking care of them since last Tuesday and we only have one egg left to hatch. We have learned lots of facts about brown trout too.
We don’t need to feed the trout as they have a yolk sack. Cate

We need to keep the temperature down around 10 degrees. We keep the temperature down by adding ice bottles every day. Katie
There are 6 stages in a brown trout’s life. Lewis
They fish need oxygen to breath. Rachael
We need to de-chlorinate the water, we do this by pumping air through the water. Gregor
If the fish die we need to remove them. Brooke
We remove the dead eggs using a turkey baster. Dil
When the eggs die they turn white. Rudi
We only change 1 ice bottle at a time. Gregor
Our Fishy Friends
On Tuesday we got the delivery of our Brown Trout Fish Eggs, although they weren’t all eggs, soem had hatched and we had 6 Alevin. No we have too many Alevin to count and they are swimming around in our tank.
We are having lots of fun taking care of our eggs and keeping the tank nice and cold for our new friends.

Clyde in the Classroom
We will receiving our fish eggs soon, we have been learning how to care for them when they come.
Fish needs:
Cool temperature
Rocks for shelter
Clean water with no chlorine
Food to survive
Willy came to insert our hatchet. He was so impressed with our work on Clyde in the classroom display he took a picture and he is showing other schools which we are all pleased about.
We will be getting the eggs in a few weeks so keep reading our posts for updates.

Maths – everyday measure
In Maths we have been consonanting on measure and the different types of measurements.
Types of measures –
Length
Volume
Weight
Height
What we would use measuring for –
Length would be how far something or somewhere is.
Volume for how loud I need to sing.
Weight would be how heavy or light something is.
Height for how tall something is.
We use measure everyday but some people don’t notice it. There are lots of different measurements and how the help our everyday life.
