This week I have not been in school as I was recuperating following cataract surgery on both of my eyes. I am delighted to say I will be back in school on Monday, fit and well (and with much better eyesight). Many thanks to all who have asked after me in my absence.
Mrs Campbell and Mrs Duffy have kept me up to date on what has been happening. I was very sorry to miss the Primary One Blessing – one of the highlights of my year- However I was delighted to hear how beautiful and prayerful it was. Mrs Campbell and Mrs Duffy both remarked on the fabulous behaviour and participation of our youngest school children and of the lovely singing provided by our oldest group of pupils, our P7s. Well done to all and many thanks to Fr Millar for taking the time to celebrate this special moment in our Primary One’s school lives.
A HUGE thanks also to our Fabulous Fundraisers who met for the first time this session on Wednesday evening, again, apologies for not being present. Our fundraisers have donated £2487.00 to allow us to purchase 10 ipads. Within education we are constrained to the suppliers as stated by North Lanarkshire Council, this ensures any items purchased will be insured and maintained by NLC personnel. Such a safeguard is vitally important to ensure the health and safety of all of our pupils. Frustrating, I appreciate, when items can be purchased elsewhere for less, however, we must endeavour to ensure safety at all times for all in our school.
The donation of these ipads will afford Miss Phee opportunity to take forward one of our main priorities within our Improvement Plan – ICT & Technologies.
To keep you up to date in respect of our ‘sail’ over our amphitheatre. Mrs Duffy met last week with the engineer who was at school ensuring correct measurements etc. We envisage our ‘sail’ being in place by end of this month, or beginning of next. All very exciting. Fortuitous also for P6 as Mrs Duffy was conducting outdoor learning on angles when the engineer came. The children were given an impromptu lesson on the importance of measure etc from the engineer. No opportunity is ever missed to broaden our children’s educational experience!
Normal ‘blog’ services will be resumed as of next week. Please remember we appreciate any feedback you can give us on any aspect of our school and nursery.
