Primary 5 have been learning all about Fair Trade. This week we learned that Fair Trade is a foundation that works to give farmers in poor communities better lives. Fair Trade sells products at a price that ensures every farmer gets paid a fair amount of money. In groups we discussed how the money is split between the farmer, supermarket, shipper and plantation owner. We were shocked to find out that a banana farmer only receives 2p for every 30p banana sold. Hopefully we will learn about different ways that we can help Fair Trade farmers around the world.<\/p>\n
