{"id":155,"date":"2015-06-19T09:45:21","date_gmt":"2015-06-19T09:45:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/anntest3\/?page_id=155"},"modified":"2023-02-28T15:52:41","modified_gmt":"2023-02-28T14:52:41","slug":"parent-council","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/MuirStreet\/parent-council\/","title":{"rendered":"Parent Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Parent Councils came into force on 1 August 2007.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The maximum size of membership is seven parents who will serve for a period of four years after which they may put themselves forward for re-selection if they wish.<\/p>\n<p>The Parent Council at Muir Street Primary is well established and is fully committed to the school aims.<\/p>\n<p>The head teacher and the local councillor for the school may attend all meetings of the council. They have the right to speak although not the right to vote.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Parent Council\u2019s rights and duties include:-<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>supporting the work of the school<\/li>\n<li>representing the views of the parents<\/li>\n<li>consulting with parents and reporting back to the Parent Forum on matters of interest<\/li>\n<li>promoting contact between the school parents, pupils, providers of nursery education and the wider community<\/li>\n<li>fundraising<\/li>\n<li>taking part in the selection of senior promoted staff<\/li>\n<li>receiving reports from the headteacher and education authority and receiving an annual budget for administration, training and other expenses<\/li>\n<li>improving home school partnerships and facilitating parental involvement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parent Councils came into force on 1 August 2007. &nbsp; The maximum size of membership is seven parents who will serve for a period of four years after which they may put themselves forward for re-selection if they wish.
