Good morning boys,
It’s the first day of April. I hope you and your family are safe and well. 🙂
Here are a few suggestions for today:
Literacy
- Work on your phonics activities on Studyladder for 10 minutes.
- Topmarks – Ask someone at home to help you with this Roy the Zebra reading activity on the Topmarks website. Read Chapter 3today. Choose 3 before and after questions to talk about.
- Word Challenge – Can you think of an Easter or spring themed word for each letter of the alphabet?
- Storytime – Log on to Espresso. Go to First Level – Literacy. Select Books
- Choose one of the books/videos to watch/read/listen to. Complete the activity for the book you choose.
Numeracy
- Try to complete more activities for Mrs Anderson’s SUMDOG CHALLENGE. Remember it finishes on Friday! Good Luck!
- Work on your numeracy activities on your Studyladder programme.
- I hope you enjoyed our Capacity Challenge yesterday. Today I would like you to try this measurement game on the Topmarks site:
- Go to Maths Games / 5-7 year old / Measure. Begin with Level 1 then try Level 2. Good luck!
Remember to take your daily exercise. Try to go outdoors with an adult today, maybe on your bike or scooter. Or even just for a walk. If you can’t go out today ,the whole family could try this :
Have a fun day and remember to stay safe at home.

Room 10 Primary 5
Good Morning Primary 5,
We are now in a new month, today is the 1st of April!
Remember to log in to GLOW to see this weeks home learning grid. You can also find them here Primary 5 Home Learning Grid
Literacy
- Write or type a silly sentence for each of your words this week. The aim is to try to make someone laugh! Too easy? Try writing a silly paragraph including all of your spelling words.
- Did you know that spaghetti grows on trees? Watch this short clip about spaghetti trees to answer the questions – Spaghetti Trees Video
- Where do the spaghetti trees grow?
- How long is the spaghetti before they cut it?
- Are there any spaghetti trees grown in Scotland?
Numeracy
- Keep working on Mrs Anderson’s whole school competition on Sumdog. I could see some excellent efforts from some people yesterday. Keep it up!!
- Use your money skills to make up a price list for the food in your house. Every time you eat something from the list add it up and see how much you have spent in one day.
- Why not set yourself a budget and see if you can stick to it. As an extra challenge, you could add up the total of everyone’s food for today.
PE
For something a little different, search ‘Just Dance Kids’ and select one or two of the routines to try out at home. Could you even contact a family member by video call and do one together?
I would love to hear how you are getting on, so leave a comment if you can!
Remember to watch out for any April Fools…
Miss you all, Miss Shanks
