Primary 5 Room 10

Friday 24 April 2020

Good Morning Primary 5,

Happy Friday and what a glorious day it is today ☀️😎 I hope you are all continuing to stay safe and well and taking advantage of this weather. I have been enjoying sitting in my garden reading with a nice ice lolly! My favourite is a Fab. What’s yours? What do you like to do outside in your garden?

Today is Friday, so why not finish any tasks you haven’t completed yet on our Home Learning Grid.

Literacy

  • Spend some time today finishing all of the activities I have assigned to you on Spelling City. Well done to those who have completed this already 🌟
  • Grammar – go outside and try to find something for every letter of the alphabet e.g a – ant, b – ball, c – car…
  • Challenge yourself even further by adding some adjectives to describe what you found e.g busy ant, b – bouncing ball, c – clean car…
  • Reading – finish reading your book on EPIC and complete the quiz at the end.
  • Create a visualiser of all the different places that water can be found and some information about them. Remember to include page numbers.

Maths

  • Last day this week where you can show off your skills by playing Beat the Teacher on Sumdog. Look out on our schools Twitter page for the code to play.
  • Play some of the times table games that have been assigned to you on StudyLadder.
  • Or check out NLC Twitter to try their daily maths challenge.

Art

Many of us have been outside in our gardens enjoying the Spring time weather by planting flowers, playing in the garden or going long walks in the woods. This quick video shows us how to draw some Spring symbols easily. Have a go and see how you get on. I know we have lots of artists in Primary 5! ☀️🌷🐝🍃💐

Have a lovely weekend boys and girls. Stay safe!

Friday 24th April

Good Morning Boys

Happy Friday! 🙂 I hope you’ve had a lovely week and have enjoyed doing some of the activities on our

Home learning Grid.

Why not try some of the activities you haven’t done yet  today?

Remember you can log onto Sumdog or Studyladder for some fun number or spelling games.

It’s going to be another beautiful sunny day!

Why not go for a lovely nature walk?

Take an empty tub or container with you and collect your own little pieces of nature to bring home.

Things like twigs, leaves or fallen petals from flowers.

You could use them to make a beautiful Spring Nature collage.

I hope you have a wonderful day  and a lovely weekend – whatever it may bring! 🙂

Remember stay home and stay safe – and keep smiling! 🙂

Take care

Mrs McQuiston

P7 Rooms 13 and 14

Good morning everyone. Hope you have all had a good week and are ready to enjoy more good weather over the weekend. If you are on Studyladder, look at the comments I have left for you. You are doing really well. In Primary 7 at this time of year, we always look back at your time at school and think of special memories. Have a think over the weekend of some of your favourite songs from singalong and we can compile a list of the favourite ones. You can email your choices or post them on Teams.
Have a great weekend. From Mrs Ruddy and Miss Thomson.

Primary 3 Room 4

Good morning boys and girls,

Hope this finds you well.  Remember to look out for little messages from me on your Study Ladder Accounts- I can now pop into our class and leave a comment for you.

It has to be a beautiful day today so try and get some sunshine but remember to stay safe- apply sun lotion if you are in the garden or out for exercise and it is really warm. Look out a sun hat and drink plenty of water.  Sunshine is good for our body as it gives us vitamin D.

I wish you all a lovely weekend.

A note to parents/carers-

The suggested activities are just that suggestions, participation is at your discretion, complete if you can and find it appropriate to do so.  Many of you will have your own work to do at home and it can be difficult to juggle both.  Please remember both you and your child’s mental health is most important during this difficult time.

Some suggestions for this coming week:

Please refer to the grid for daily suggestions for Literacy and Numeracy.  Other curricular areas can be completed if this works for your family.

Click below to open the grid

Home Learning Grid

Literacy

Phonics and Common Words:

  • Ask an adult or brother or sister to state your common words and write them once without looking at them.

Reading Activity

Writing– What’s Inside Me

Make a poster or leaflet to include what you have learned this week about the human body.  Some of you might even like to put the facts into a power point.

Art and Design

Find some old magazines. Cut out facial features and make some funny faces.  You can glue these down or just move them around on the paper to make funny faces.  You could then draw some of these faces.  Get creative!

Remember if you would like to leave a comment via Twitter, it would be lovely to hear from you!

Have a good day and remember these are just suggestions.  Keep safe.

Regards

Mrs Brown

Primary 5 Room 10

Thursday 23 April 2020

Good morning wonderful Primary 5,

I hope you are all continuing to stay safe and active at home with your families. Looks like today is going to be another gorgeous, sunny day to get outside for some exercise. Yesterday I went for a long walk and managed to take 12,000 steps! How many steps have you been doing each day? Do you think you can beat my record? I bet you can 😏☀️

I am so happy to see all of the hard work you are doing at home. Continue to work through this weeks Home Learning Grid . Remember these are suggestions and you do not need to complete all of them, just do what you can 🌟

Literacy

  • Log on to Spelling City and spend 15minutes on the activities I have assigned to you. It has been great to see so many people logging on and doing these activities each day. Keep it up! 👍
  • Write a diary entry of your home learning experience so far. Remember to add your thoughts and feelings. Write about one positive thing you have accomplished each day such as; I completed a challenging work out by Joe Wicks this morning. It was great fun and I felt incredibly energised afterwards. I can’t wait to do another one!
  • You could type your entry into an email to send to me, take a picture of it or even type it in our class notebook. I can’t wait to read what you have been up to 📝

Maths

  • Have a go at NLC Learning Hub’s daily maths challenge. ⬆️ HEADS UP! ⬆️ Use maths vocabulary or numbers. Write them on post-its. Get someone to choose one and stick it on your head. You then have 10 questions to ask to see if you can guess the maths word or number correctly.
  • Try it with 3D shapes, triangles, multiplication facts and more! I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Science

  • Visit the Chester Zoo website and choose an animal to research. Create a visualiser/fact file of your chosen animal.
  • Add some information about their habitat, diet and some interesting facts about them! You could also draw a picture of the animal in the middle and label it.
  • Share your fact file on the school’s twitter page and tag Chester Zoo in your post. I’m sure they would love to see that you have been learning about some of their animals 🐅🐒🐘🐢🦁

Health & Well-being

Since it is so nice outside and you have been working all day, why don’t you have a break from technology. Put your games console, TV, iPad, phone away for a few hours and spend some quality time with a family member. Ask them about their favourite part about being at home and talk through any worries you might have. It is good to share our thoughts and feelings and try to stay positive during this time.

Have a lovely day boys and girls, speak to you all soon!

Good Morning Boys

I hope you are feeling well and enjoying this chance to spend time with your family at home.

Yesterday was such a lovely, sunny day, I hope you managed to get out for some fun exercise and fresh air. Tia and I went for a lovely walk yesterday afternoon. I enjoyed the sunshine and she enjoyed snuffling in the long grass. 🙂 It’s a little cloudy this morning but should be nice and sunny in the afternoon.Let’s hope so! 🙂

Remember to log onto studyladder and try some of the addition and subtraction activities I have uploaded for you. There are lots of activities to choose from our Home Learning Grid which I reposted on Tuesday. Why not try the playdough challenge today?

Today I would like you to try our Weekly Espresso Challenge from our Home Learning Grid. Draw a picture of your favourite dinosaur. Or why not make one using your playdough or lego?

Copy and paste this link into your web browser to try this fun game to test your knowledge and learn even more about dinosaurs.
