Good morning everyone and welcome back.

We really hope we will see you all back in class very soon. I have posted the Primary 1 learning grid for you to complete this week. We know everyone’s circumstances will be different and with parent/carers working from home, home learning will look different for everyone. Please just do what you can, when you can.

We are here to help so please get in touch if you have any questions or need support with anything and we will do what we can to support you.

I will be on the Room 2 Teams channel at 11am and the Room 1 Teams channel at 11.30am answering your questions live. I will also be checking in out with these times if you want to post anything.

The boys and girls have been working hard to still bring the Nativity to you this year. It might not be our usual Christmas service, but the boys and girls and Muir Street continue to shine and make us proud. Well done!

Registration of Infant Beginners 2021

Children who attain the age of 5 years between 1 March 2021 and 28 February 2022 should register for starting Primary 1 in August 2021.

A new system for Registration of Infant Beginners has been put in place to support our ongoing response to COVID-19.  A new online registration form has been created and guidelines are below.  A deadline of 22^nd January 2021 has been set for return of all forms.

Enrolment and Placing Request forms are now available for parents/carers to complete online.

Completed application forms should be sent to:

Please ensure you include a scanned or a screen shot of your child’s birth certificate and council tax/utility bill.  Please check each child’s birth certificate to ensure that they are within the correct age group.  If this is not the case, then the child cannot be registered for enrolment.

Placing request forms can be emailed to ef.placingrequest@northlan.gov.uk

Transport forms are also available online and paper copies can be requested from ef.transport@northlan.gov.uk

Choosing a school booklet can be downloaded from the Scottish Government website www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2010/11/10093528/0.

Parents/carers who wish to make an early entry request should contact their catchment area school for an application form or download from www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk following the links for ‘Early Entry Requests’.

Due to difficulties in the past, each child’s birth certificate and proof of address in the form of the current council tax bill/utility bill must be produced.

Muir Street Primary will arrange a webex meeting or telephone call for parents/carers to complete paper work where necessary or where further discussion is needed to clarify information for the enrolment form, e.g medical/allergy information.

Parents and Carers Awareness Session starts this week – there are limited spaces remaining.  Details can be found below.

This course seeks to equip parents with knowledge around alcohol and cannabis.  It is suitable for parents of P7-S6 pupils in North Lanarkshire schools, and there is no cost attached.  The course is informal, and lasts for one hour.  Please find course aims and dates below.  The session will be completed online due to Covid-19 restrictions, using the Google Meet Platform.  To sign up, please follow the Eventbrite link below.  For further information regarding the session please do not hesitate to contact me using the details below.

Course Aims

At the end of the course, parents/carers will:

• Understand the effects cannabis and alcohol can have on the body
• Be familiar with cannabis forms – how it looks and how it’s taken
• Explore the difference between THC and CBD
• Be familiar with some street names for cannabis
• Explore Scotland’s relationship with alcohol
• Be familiar with modern trends in regards to cannabis use
• Be provided with Harm Reduction information for each substance
