Good morning boys and girls,
This morning I would like to start with a big thank you to Miss Welsh for putting together the lovely video of all the staff sending you all our thoughts. I think you’ll agree it was lovely to see all the staff and we all can’t wait to see you again! If you haven’t yet managed to see it, here is the link:

Also this morning, let’s wish Captain Tom a very happy 100th Birthday! He has had an amazing life and raised a fantastic amount of money to support our NHS during this difficult time. He has received over 125,000 birthday cards from all over the world! Happy Birthday and many congratulations, Captain Tom!
You should receive details about moving onto Glow Teams in the post this week and we will move onto this next week. We will then be able to chat online at specific times and you can have online chats/conversations with other children in our class. I am really looking forward to hearing how you all are!
A note to parents/carers-
The suggested activities are just that suggestions, participation is at your discretion, complete if you can and find it appropriate to do so. Many of you will have your own work to do at home and it can be difficult to juggle both. Please remember both you and your child’s mental health is most important during this difficult time.
Some suggestions for this coming week:
Please refer to the grid for daily suggestions for Literacy and Numeracy. Other curricular areas can be completed if this works for your family.

Phonics and Common Words: (Refer to Grid)
- Ask an adult or brother or sister to state your common words and write them once without looking at them.
Text/Video– Ice Maker, Ice Breaker
Main Ideas/Summary– Ice Maker, Ice Breaker
Set a timer for 10 minutes and give yourself a challenge- How many facts can you write down about ice?
Extension- Can you find 4 containers (with parental permission) to fill with water and make some ice moulds by placing carefully in the freezer. Predict which one will melt first and last and state why. Include your predictions and reasoning in your fact writing making this a separate paragraph.
You could add a final paragraph later once your ice is formed and after melting has occurred. What happened to the moulds are were your predictions correct?
Art and Design
Use lines to create a patterned back ground. Colour the background if you would like to make your design more attractive. Then using a variety of recycled or new paper create shapes by cutting out to make the body parts for a bird. Glue your bird or birds to your patterned back ground.
Additional PE Ideas
Remember if you would like to leave a comment via Twitter, it would be lovely to hear from you! Hopefully soon we’ll be up and running on Glow Teams- look out for your login details arriving in the post this week!
Have a good day and remember these are just suggestions. Keep safe.
Regards
Mrs Brown
