{"id":1903,"date":"2015-03-27T16:31:03","date_gmt":"2015-03-27T16:31:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/LawmuirBlog\/?p=1903"},"modified":"2015-03-31T19:15:04","modified_gmt":"2015-03-31T19:15:04","slug":"what-a-busy-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/LawmuirBlog\/2015\/03\/27\/what-a-busy-week\/","title":{"rendered":"What a busy week!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Wow, what a week we&#8217;ve had!<\/h4>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #339966\">Literacy Week<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>Our Literacy Week was a great success.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve had writing workshops led by Mrs. Osborne, a storyteller for Primary 1-3, trips to the library for Primary 7, an author visit for Primary 4-7, a book swap, a read-a-thon, a book quiz, the chance to come to school dressed as a book character and today&#8217;s assembly included reading the book &#8220;Dear Zoo&#8221;, IN FRENCH!\u00a0 In addition to all of this classes have been taking part in extra Literacy based work throughout the week.\u00a0 We hope that all these activities have sparked some extra enthusiasm for Literacy and that the children have been inspired to pick up a book or write one themselves!<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #339966\">Child Smile<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>On Thursday children in Primary 1-4 had fluoride varnish applied to their teeth in order to keep them in tip top condition.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #339966\">Swimming<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>Our Primary 5s continued their swimming lessons at the Sir Matt Busby Centre.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #339966\">Parents&#8217; Evening<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>As I&#8217;ve already posted, we were delighted at the amount of parents who came to the school to discuss their child&#8217;s progress with their teacher.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #339966\">Bring and Buy Sale and Soak the 7s<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>Today our Primary 7s ran their Bring and Buy Sale and got completely soaked all in order to raise money for their leavers&#8217; event in June.\u00a0 The appeared to have a great time and have managed to raise over \u00a3200.\u00a0 Well done to you all the Primary 7s, Mrs. Minchella and Mrs. Shaw.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #339966\">Charity work<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>Today we posted two cheques to very worthwhile charities.\u00a0 We have raised \u00a3384 for <em>Guide Dogs for the Blind<\/em> by selling chocolate eggs in knitted chicks and \u00a3298.45 for <em>Comic Relief<\/em> by selling red noses and making our faces funny for money.\u00a0 A huge thank you to everyone who contributed.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll post photos of all the events as we collect in the cameras.\u00a0 Thanks to all the pupils, parents and staff who have made this such a wonderful week.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #339966\">Next Week<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>Next week is a much quieter week with children continuing their usual work in their classes.\u00a0 Please remember that we stop for the Spring holiday at 2.30pm on Thursday 2nd April.<\/p>\n<p>Have a lovely weekend!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\"><em>Mrs Watt<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wow, what a week we&#8217;ve had!
